Tension as Parents Storm St. Joseph Musoto Primary School In Mbale Over Withheld PLE Results

Mbale- Uganda-19 February 2026,
Tension flared today at St. Joseph Musoto Primary School in Mbale City after frustrated parents stormed the school demanding the release of their children’s 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.

The parents, whose children sat the exams last year, say they have waited for weeks since the official release of the results by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) but have been unable to access them.

According to several parents who gathered at the school premises this morning, repeated attempts to obtain the results through the school administration and via UNEB’s SMS index number system have been unsuccessful.

The situation reportedly escalated into a heated exchange between parents and the school administration, with families demanding clear explanations regarding the whereabouts of the results.

In response to the mounting pressure, the head teacher informed parents that UNEB had summoned all candidates whose results were withheld, allegedly over concerns related to the Science subject. He told the parents that the pupils are required to appear before UNEB to defend their results.

The head teacher further asked each parent to contribute Shs50,000 to facilitate transport for their child to Kampala, where the engagement with UNEB officials is expected to take place.

This announcement drew mixed reactions from parents, some of whom questioned why they were being asked to raise additional funds amid economic hardship and without prior formal communication from UNEB.
“We have already struggled to pay school fees and examination requirements. Now we are being told to again contribute money for transport to Kampala. We need clear information and official communication,” one parent said during the confrontation.

Parents expressed concern that the delay is affecting their children’s transition to Senior One, as many secondary schools have already commenced admissions and registration processes.

Efforts to independently verify the summons from UNEB were still ongoing by press time. However, UNEB has previously stated that withheld results are subject to investigations and that affected candidates are accorded a fair hearing before final decisions are made.

Education stakeholders in Mbale have called for calm as investigations continue, urging both the school administration and UNEB to provide timely and transparent communication to avoid further anxiety among learners and their families.

The matter remains unresolved as parents await official clarification and a clear roadmap for their children’s academic future.
