Mbale City Scouts Camp: A Celebration of Skills and National Pride

Mbale City, Uganda – The annual Mbale City Scouts Camp concluded successfully, bringing together young scouts from various schools to celebrate their achievements and reinforce the values of discipline, patriotism, and teamwork. The event featured remarks from key figures in the education and scouting community, highlighting the importance of scouting in youth development.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Wamalwa expressed gratitude to the assessors who conducted evaluations for the young scouts. He emphasized the significance of loving one’s country and instilling discipline among the youth.

“Scouting is not just about outdoor skills; it’s about building responsible citizens who are proud of their nation,” he stated.

Chairman Nabutele thanked the representatives from eight schools for their attendance and participation. He proposed that each school nominate two trainees to help recruit more scouts in the future.

“Together, we can expand scouting in Mbale City and empower our youth,” he remarked.

He also urged the need for a memorandum with the inspector to encourage the establishment of scout clubs in both private and government schools and expressed appreciation for Commissioner Wamalwa’s steadfast support of the scouting movement.

As the chief guest, Mr. Waluku congratulated the scouts on their successful completion of training and praised the skills they acquired during the camp. He acknowledged the Ministry of Education for incorporating scouting into school activities, stating,

“Scouting provides invaluable life skills that contribute to the holistic development of our children.”
He committed to collaborating with school heads to increase scout participation in the upcoming year.

The event culminated in an awards ceremony where the Chairperson, Commissioner Wamalwa, and Chief Guest Mr. Waluku presented medals and trophies to the best-performing schools. This recognition not only celebrated the scouts’ hard work but also motivated them to continue their journey in scouting.

The Mbale City Scouts Camp has once again proven to be a vital platform for youth engagement, fostering skills that will benefit both the individuals and the community at large. As the camp concludes, the commitment to grow the scouting movement in Mbale City remains strong, with plans for further development and inclusion in the educational framework.
