The Inzu ya Masaaba Cultural Institution has formally petitioned the Uganda Police Force and other national security agencies, seeking the investigation of Mr. Steven Masiga over alleged threats, intimidation, and actions said to undermine peace and lawful coexistence within the Bamasaaba community.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Prime Minister of the institution, Mathias Nabutele, confirmed that a formal complaint and petition had been submitted to law enforcement authorities, requesting urgent intervention to safeguard members of the community.
According to the statement, the petition cites alleged acts of intimidation, threatening utterances, and conduct attributed to Mr. Masiga, which the institution claims risk inciting unrest, fear, and division among Bamasaaba in Uganda, Kenya, and the diaspora.
“We have petitioned the police and other competent security organs to investigate these serious allegations and take appropriate lawful action where necessary to ensure justice and protection of our people,” Nabutele stated.

The institution emphasized that its actions are grounded in constitutional principles that guarantee freedom of association, freedom of expression, and protection from coercion or intimidation.
Officials further stressed that cultural institutions derive legitimacy from voluntary support and consent, not threats or force.
The petition also calls upon security agencies to expedite investigations in order to preserve peace and prevent escalation of tensions within the community.
In addition, the leadership urged media houses and the public to act responsibly by avoiding inflammatory reporting and ensuring that peace and unity remain paramount.
By press time, police and other security agencies had not yet released an official response regarding the petition or indicated whether further action would be taken.
The Inzu ya Masaaba reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, peaceful engagement, and the protection of the rights and dignity of all Bamasaaba.
This remains a developing story.
