The BANSA (Bamasaaba Students Association) Leaders Celebrate Unity and Cultural Identity at UTC Elgon Handover Ceremony

Mbale-Uganda-March 30,2026-The Bamasaba Students’ Association at UTC Elgon (BANSA) held a vibrant handover ceremony last Saturday, bringing together outgoing and incoming student leaders in a show of unity, leadership continuity, and cultural pride.

The event was attended by members of the BANSA Executive, alongside distinguished guests, including the BANSA President, who also serves as the Ambassador from the Inzu ya Masaba Office of Umukuka IV. His presence was widely described as a strong symbol of the enduring relationship between the cultural institution of the Bamasaba people and the student community.

In his remarks, outgoing Chairperson and Minister of Sports, Nasayi Alex, expressed deep appreciation to the leadership for their support throughout his tenure. He commended the BANSA Executive for honoring the invitation and for their continued commitment to strengthening student leadership and cultural identity.

“This occasion reflects not only leadership transition but also our shared commitment to preserving the values and unity of the Bamasaba people,” he noted.

The handover event featured reflections on past achievements, recognition of outgoing leaders, and encouragement for the incoming team to build on existing foundations. The gathering emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and cultural awareness among students, with speakers highlighting how student organizations like BANSA play a key role in shaping future leaders.

The BANSA leadership reaffirmed its dedication to fostering unity among students while promoting cultural pride and community engagement. The association also pledged to continue working closely with the Inzu ya Masaba cultural institution in advancing initiatives that support youth empowerment and education.

Observers noted that the event underscored the growing collaboration between cultural institutions and academic environments in Uganda, reinforcing the role of such partnerships in preserving heritage while nurturing modern leadership skills.

As the outgoing leadership steps down, there is renewed optimism that the incoming team will build on this momentum and further strengthen BANSA’s presence and impact within UTC Elgon and beyond.
