UMUKUUKA IV CONGRATEULATES ALL SUCCESSFULLY ELECTED BAMASAABA MPs, SOOTHES THOSE WHO LOST

Mbale, Uganda

The Umukuuka IV of the Bamasaba people, His Highness Mayatsa Joram Khamboson, has congratulated all successfully elected Members of Parliament from Masaabaland, while extending words of encouragement and reassurance to candidates who did not succeed in the recently concluded general elections.

In a message issued on behalf of the Inzu ya Masaaba Cultural Institution and the entire Bamasaba community in Uganda, Kenya, and the diaspora, the Umukuuka IV described the election outcomes as a reflection of the people’s democratic choice, trust, and hope in their leaders.
He congratulated Members of Parliament elected from constituencies across Mbale District and City, Bududa, Bulambuli, Manafwa, Namisindwa, and Sironko districts, as well as all Women Members of Parliament representing the region.
The Umukuuka IV urged the elected leaders to serve with humility, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility, placing peace, unity, and inclusive development at the centre of their leadership.
He also encouraged candidates who were not successful to remain hopeful and engaged in community service, noting that leadership is a journey and that their contribution to the development of Masaabaland remains important and valued.
Emphasizing the role of culture in development, the Umukuuka IV called upon all elected Bamasaba leaders and the wider community to support and work closely with the Inzu ya Masaaba Cultural Institution as a strategic partner in promoting social cohesion and sustainable development across Masaabaland.
In this regard, His Highness promised to convene a special meeting with all Bamasaba Members of Parliament, during which they will be equipped with the Bamasaba development aspirations and the long-term development agenda of Inzu ya Masaaba, aimed at guiding coordinated advocacy, legislation, and resource mobilisation for the benefit of the people.
He noted that meaningful progress can only be achieved through collaboration between political leaders, cultural institutions, religious leaders, and citizens, working together toward shared goals.
The Umukuuka IV further appealed to the people of Masaabaland to rise above political differences and uphold peace, reconciliation, and mutual respect, stressing that elections should never divide a people bound by a common heritage, culture, and destiny.
He called for renewed focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, environmental conservation—especially the protection of Mt. Elgon—and overall community prosperity, under the guidance and coordination of Inzu ya Masaaba.
The message concluded with a call for wisdom, patience, and unity to guide leaders and citizens alike as Masaabaland moves forward.
For God and My Country.
