Bulambuli, Uganda – The launch of the magnificent Sisiyi Falls tourism site in Bulambuli District has marked a major milestone in Uganda’s ongoing efforts to expand eco-tourism and stimulate local economic development. Nestled in the foothills of Mount Elgon, Sisiyi Falls is renowned for its dramatic drop, lush green surroundings, and panoramic views that make it ideal for hiking, photography, and adventure travel.
The launch event drew government officials, tourism stakeholders, local leaders, and community members, all united behind the shared goal of elevating Bulambuli’s tourism potential. Beyond Sisiyi Falls, the initiative aims to spotlight the region’s other hidden gems including mysterious caves, rich Elgon forests, cultural sites, and various natural attractions that remain largely unexplored but hold vast tourism value.
According to officials, the development of these sites is expected to complement the already-famous Sipi Falls, offering tourists an extended circuit of attractions across the Elgon region. This is projected to significantly increase visitor numbers and investment in hospitality, recreation, and local entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the event, Stephen Edema, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Bulambuli District, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and local residents. He urged communities to support sustainable tourism by protecting natural resources, participating in site maintenance, and embracing new opportunities created through tourism.
Edema also donated a motorbike to the Bulambuli tourism sector an important tool to facilitate site management, patrols, and improved coordination at the falls.

He noted that improved access roads, better accommodation facilities, and trained tour guides will not only enhance visitor experience but also create employment opportunities for the people of Bulambuli.
The launch of Sisiyi Falls aligns with Uganda’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism offerings, promote eco-friendly travel, and empower local communities through job creation. With its combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure activities, Sisiyi Falls is poised to become a major attraction for both domestic and international travelers.
Local authorities remain optimistic that the site will drive economic growth, community development, and environmental conservation. Plans are already underway to construct essential infrastructure, establish guided tour systems, and market the region as a top destination in Eastern Uganda

The unveiling of Sisiyi Falls stands as a strong testament to Uganda’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of its natural landscapes while championing sustainable tourism practices.
