UMUKUUKA OF INZU YA MASAABA VISITS KENYA AHEAD OF IMBALU CEREMONY

The Umukuuka of the Inzu Ya Masaaba Cultural Institution, together with his delegation of Bamasaba leaders, has traveled to Bungoma County in Kenya to meet thousands of Bamasaba people living in the region ahead of the highly anticipated Imbalu circumcision ceremony.

The visit is aimed at strengthening unity among the Bamasaba community across borders and mobilizing cultural support for the upcoming Imbalu ceremony, which is a significant cultural rite of passage among the Bamasaba people. The Umukuuka and his delegation are expected to engage community elders, cultural leaders, youth, and stakeholders during the visit.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, cultural leaders emphasized the importance of preserving traditions and ensuring that younger generations understand the value of the Imbalu ceremony, which symbolizes bravery, identity, and cultural pride among the Bamasaba.

Thousands of Bamasaba in Bungoma County have welcomed the visit with excitement, describing it as a major step in promoting cultural unity between Bamasaba communities in Uganda and Kenya. The leaders are also expected to discuss preparations, mobilization, and participation in the upcoming Imbalu ceremony.

The visit highlights the continued commitment of the Inzu Ya Masaaba Cultural Institution to promote cultural heritage, strengthen cross-border relationships, and ensure the traditions of the Bamasaba people remain vibrant for generations to come.

The visit is expected to further cement unity, cultural pride, and cooperation among the Bamasaba people across East Africa.
