BULAMBULI, UGANDA — October 8, 2026
As Uganda celebrates 64 years of Independence, Hon. Emmanuel Wepukhulu Biara, Member of Parliament for Bulambuli Constituency and Regional Whip for the Elgon Zone, has joined the people of Bulambuli, Bugisu Sub-region and all Ugandans in honouring the courage, sacrifice and vision of those who fought for the country’s freedom.

In his Independence Day message, Hon. Biara said Uganda’s independence must mean more than the historic lowering of one flag and the raising of another. He emphasised that the true meaning of independence must be reflected in the everyday lives of Ugandans through better roads, quality education and healthcare, modern agriculture, decent jobs for young people, secure communities and equal development opportunities across the country.

Turning his attention to Bulambuli and the wider Bugisu Sub-region, the legislator said the 64th Independence Anniversary should renew the region’s determination to overcome persistent challenges, including disasters, poverty and unemployment, while unlocking its enormous potential in agriculture, tourism, culture, trade and human capital.

Hon. Biara further called upon the current generation to recognise its responsibility to protect the peace and stability Uganda has inherited while building a country founded on unity, integrity, hard work, accountable leadership and shared prosperity.

He stressed that Uganda’s diversity must remain a source of national strength and that no community should ever feel left behind in the country’s development journey.

On behalf of his family, the people of Bulambuli Constituency and on his own behalf, Hon. Biara wished H.E. the President, the people of Bugisu and all Ugandans a peaceful and meaningful 64th Independence Anniversary.

He concluded his message with a call for Ugandans to allow the country’s freedom to inspire service, unity and development:

“May our freedom inspire service. May our unity drive development. May Uganda continue marching forward.”

Happy 64th Independence Day!
