Uganda Sets May 12 for Presidential Swearing-In Ceremony

Kampala, Uganda — April 2026
The Uganda Media Centre has officially announced that President Yoweri Museveni will be sworn in for a new term on May 12, 2026, following his recent electoral victory.

According to the statement, the inauguration will be held at the historic Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, a venue traditionally used for major national events. The ceremony will be guided by the theme: “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status,” reflecting the government’s focus on economic growth and development.

The event is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries, including regional leaders and international representatives, underscoring Uganda’s diplomatic ties and presence on the global stage.

Preparations are already in progress under the leadership of Yunus Kakande, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, who is heading the National Organising Committee. Officials say efforts are being made to ensure the ceremony is conducted smoothly and with the dignity befitting a national occasion.

The announcement was formally signed by Alan Kasujja, Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre.

This swearing-in marks another milestone in Uganda’s political journey, as the country looks ahead to strengthening its economy and advancing toward its long-term development goals.
