PRESIDENT MUSEVENI BIDS FAREWELL TO OUTGOING SUDANESE AMBASSADOR

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has received the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Uganda, H.E. Ahmed Ibrahim, at State House, Entebbe, for a farewell meeting following the completion of his four-year tour of duty.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ibrahim expressed appreciation to President Museveni, the Government and people of Uganda for the warm welcome, friendship and support extended to him and the Sudanese community during his tenure.

The Ambassador said he had come to regard Uganda as a second home, highlighting the close relations and bonds of friendship between the two countries.

Sudanese Ambassador Commends Uganda’s Support

Ambassador Ibrahim particularly appreciated Uganda’s solidarity with the people of Sudan following the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in April 2023.

He commended the Ugandan Government and people for the hospitality extended to Sudanese nationals who sought refuge in Uganda during the conflict.

The Ambassador described Uganda’s response as a demonstration of the strong bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

He said Uganda’s support during the difficult period would remain deeply appreciated by the Sudanese people and would contribute to strengthening the longstanding relations between Uganda and Sudan.

Museveni Thanks Ambassador for His Service

President Museveni thanked Ambassador Ibrahim for his service and contribution towards strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Sudan during his four-year tour of duty.

The President also wished the outgoing Ambassador success in his future assignments.

The farewell meeting highlighted the longstanding diplomatic, historical and people-to-people ties between Uganda and Sudan.

Both countries remain committed to further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
