Bamasaaba Elders have highlight flaws as below
The ministry is a prime example of placing the wrong people in the wrong positions. They have managed cultural institutions through a political lens rather than adhering to the law.
The Bamasaaba community took eight years of consultations to form the IYM. We registered a constitution to guide our cultural management:
. Our first Umukuuka was installed peacefully, graced by His Excellency, the President of Uganda.
. Umukuuka II was also peacefully elected and installed, with top government representation.
. Out of the blue, Minister Mutuzo abolished circumcision until she was forced to apologize.
. The election of Umukuuka III triggered disagreements, with two rivals claiming to be duly elected.
. Minister Mutuzo instructed the Umukuuka emeritus, Wilson Wamimbi (RIP), to use the constitution of IYM to resolve the matter.
. The individual declared as Umukuuka was gazetted under IYM.
. He then began his underhanded tactics to dismantle IYM while publicly denying it.
. We now have clear evidence showing how he transformed our institution from a cultural leadership into a lifetime monarchy.
The Bamasaaba have never installed a king as the current leader refers to himself , one elder said.
