Inzu Ya Masaba Cultural Institution has rejected claims by Bugisu Cultural Institution spokesperson Steven Masiga that it is defunct or illegitimate. In a formal rebuttal, spokesperson Wepukhulu Abner stated that Inzu Ya Masaba remains an active cultural institution rooted in history, constitutional provisions, and the will of the Bamasaaba people.
Citing Article 246 of the Ugandan Constitution, the institution emphasized that cultural institutions exist according to the wishes and traditions of the people and cannot be unilaterally abolished by an individual or another institution. The leadership further clarified that although gazettement is an important administrative process, it does not determine the existence or legitimacy of a cultural institution.
