Bugisu Mourns Canon Codvia Wakiro, Insurance Visionary and Cultural Pillar
MBALE, UGANDA ,The nation joins the people of Bugisu in mourning the passing of Canon Codvia Wakiro, a distinguished leader, respected churchman, and visionary figure in Uganda’s insurance fraternity.
Canon Wakiro, whose life was defined by service, integrity, and foresight, passed on leaving behind a powerful legacy that spans faith, professional excellence, and cultural institution building.
A Life of Service and Influence
Widely known across Bugisu and beyond, Canon Wakiro was a prominent personality whose voice carried weight in matters of leadership, community development, and institutional growth. In the insurance sector, he was recognized as a forward-thinking professional whose contributions helped shape policies and systems that brought security and confidence to many families and institutions.
His work earned him respect not only as a professional but as a mentor and moral compass to colleagues and younger generations.
Founding Role in Inzu Ya Masaaba
Beyond his professional achievements, Canon Codvia Wakiro occupies a permanent place in cultural history as one of the 20 original Promoters of Inzu Ya Masaaba, the cultural institution of the Bamasaaba people.
This role reflected his deep commitment to heritage preservation, unity, and the strengthening of indigenous governance structures. He stood among men and women of vision who laid the foundation for what Inzu Ya Masaaba represents today.
