Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park: Uganda’s Premier “Business Card” for Global Investors

By Our Staff Reporter

Mbale, Uganda – April 2026
In a powerful demonstration of Uganda-China economic partnership, the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park has once again proven why it stands as the country’s flagship “business card” for potential investors. During the recent Uganda-China Coffee, Investment and Destination Tour, a high-level delegation led by Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, Head of Mission at the Embassy of Uganda in Beijing, and Consul General Judyth Nsabarera of the Ugandan Consulate in Guangzhou, visited the park alongside Chinese entrepreneurs. The visit highlighted the park’s rapid transformation into a vibrant hub of manufacturing excellence.

In a warm welcome address on behalf of the park’s management and all operating enterprises, the leadership extended heartfelt gratitude to the Ugandan diplomatic mission and visiting Chinese business leaders. “Your presence here today is not only a recognition of the progress we have made, but also a strong vote of confidence in Uganda’s industrialization journey,” the statement emphasized. Launched in March 2018 under the strong support of the Government of Uganda led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the park benefits from a stable environment, investment incentives, tax exemptions, and robust security all of which continue to attract serious investors.

Today, the 619 acre park developed by Tian Tang (Tiantang) Group as one of Uganda’s 22 state level industrial parks is home to over 73 operational factories (with additional enterprises under construction), spanning textiles and garments, steel and construction materials, paper products, electronics, chemicals, automotive parts, packaging, and more. Collectively, these companies manufacture over 170 different products and serve as a cornerstone of Uganda’s import-substitution and export-driven growth strategy. The park has generated over 13,500 direct jobs and nearly 100,000 indirect jobs, delivering tangible skills development and economic empowerment to local communities.

The delegation toured four flagship factories that perfectly illustrate the park’s success story

• Unisteel Investments Uganda Limited:
With a US$100 million investment, this integrated steel mill produces 700,000 tons of high-quality iron bars annually for tall buildings and major construction projects one of East Africa’s largest such facilities.

• Nice Textile:
A leading producer turning out 50–70 million meters of fabric every year, supplying regional markets and driving Uganda’s textile export potential.

• Xinlon Textile and Garment Technology Co.:
Creating around 2,000 jobs, including casual workers and trainees who receive full salaries during their training programs a model of inclusive skills development.

• Fafa Glass (pioneering tempered glass production in Uganda):
The first enterprise in the country to manufacture tempered glass, marking a breakthrough in local construction and value-addition industries.

These visits underscored how the park translates policy into real results, with technology transfer, job creation, and high-quality “Made in Uganda” products now competing regionally.

“Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa,” the welcome address reminded guests, highlighting not only world-class Robusta and Arabica coffee but also abundant natural resources, a youthful workforce, strategic East African location, and investor-friendly policies including private property protection and free profit repatriation. The Mbale Industrial Park serves as living proof of these advantages in action.

Tian Tang Group, the park’s developer and operator, reaffirmed its long-term commitment, positioning the facility as a ready-made platform for sincere investors seeking stable, high-return opportunities in Africa. With ongoing government plans for an additional 600 acres of expansion land, improved infrastructure, stable power, and drainage systems, the park is poised for even greater growth.

As Chinese and Ugandan leaders work hand-in-hand under the Belt and Road Initiative, the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park is more than just an industrial zone — it is Uganda’s most compelling business card to the world. It invites investors to partner in a story of shared prosperity, industrialization, and sustainable development.

Uganda’s doors remain wide open. For entrepreneurs ready to seize the moment, the Mbale Industrial Park offers not just land and incentives, but a proven track record of success and a warm welcome from a nation on the rise.
