2026 IMBALU INAUGURATION PROGRAM

UMUKUUKA IV OF INZU YA MASAABA

Mbale City, Uganda — Inzu Ya Masaaba, under the leadership of Umukuuka IV, Mayatsa Joram Khamboson, officially announces the 2026 Imbalu Inauguration Cultural Exposition, scheduled to run from 1st August to 29th August 2026 at the Mutoto Cultural Centre.
This highly anticipated cultural season is one of the most significant events on the Bamasaaba cultural calendar. It serves as a powerful platform for preserving, promoting, and celebrating the rich heritage of the Bamasaaba people through Imbalu (male circumcision rites), traditional dances, clan exhibitions, storytelling, music, and cultural education.

Imbalu is a sacred cultural rite of passage that marks the transition of boys into manhood among the Bamasaaba. It symbolizes bravery, discipline, unity, and cultural identity. The Imbalu season also brings together clans, elders, youth, and visitors from across Uganda and beyond to celebrate shared heritage.
